This is absurd, and totally unacceptable. People can do two things at once! Another issue is why the border with Gaza was not being defended on October 7th. Here the party line is the same. The border is only 36 miles long, there really can be excuse for not defending it. Plus, Netanyahu had a year's advance notice that Hamas was planning thsi, and ignored this key info. Joe also grilled Barkat about why Netanyahu gave Qatar the green light to funding Hamas. Again, no coherent response from Barkat.
Much of the delay in looking into these problems can be atrributed to the tenuous state of Netanyahu's prime ministership. He is on shaky grounds, with most Israelis wanting him out, and he is trying to delay the inevitable.
I googled Nir Barkat, and he seems like a good guy. He was a major philanthropist, and as a result of his philanthropy he became mayor of Jerusalem, and now he is in the cabinet. This is a great example of how good people can get caught up in the bowels of an evil regime, and end up tainted themselves. Willie Geist asked him why he put "innocent" villians in air quotes, and Barkat opined that 70-80% of Gazans supported the October 7th attack. I have researched this myself, and my conclusion is that 70-80% of Gazans do support Hamas, but only about half of these support terrorism. So, the real figure is 40% at most. And there can be no excuse for killing women and children, and letting litle babies starve to death.
When George W. Bush described what he called an "axis of evil", he was referring to countries. But I say that it is folly to call countries evil. Rather, it is people who are evil. Today's axis of evil consists of Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Benjamin Netanyahu, all three of whom are intent on running their respective countries into the ground.
